Fishing pole - Mine is lightweight & breaks down into 5 sections. It can be used as both a spinning rod & a fly rod. I made a carrier for it out of a 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe with caps on both ends that fits nicely on my pack. Pack the reel in a ditty bag.  I also have a lightweight, telescoping rod (cheap) for extended trips.

Tackle box - Small plastic box with compartments that fits in my back pocket. Contains hooks, lures, flies, sinkers, stringer, fingernail clippers, etc.

Cleaning knife - Sharp knife in sheath for cleaning fish.

Bait - Nightcrawlers work great.

Fishing license - Keepin' it legal.
