Boulder Lake

A beautiful, green lake (8 acres) with a ring of lily pads. Lovely meadow on the south side, granite crag on west side. Very good fishing. Firewood is scarce. Crowded with day hikers.

Elevation: 7,000 feet
Difficulty: Moderate (much uphill)
Permit: Wilderness permit required from any Forest Service station.
Information: Shasta-Trinity National Forest
Water: available from lake (filter or purify)

From Redding:

West on Hwy 299 to Weaverville, then north on Hwy 3 past Trinity (Clair Engle) Lake. Left on Forest Road 37N52 (40 miles north of Weaverville, 0.5 mile south of Coffee Creek Road). Follow signs to trailhead (10 miles).

From Trailhead:

Follow trail southwest, switchback northwest, level off on brow of ridge, pass fork to Little Boulder Lake on left, then downhill to north shore of lake. Campsites on north shore & 2 on southwest shore (follow trail on left side of lake).
