A beautiful lake in an old volcano crater rimmed by forests & meadows in a remote part of Lassen National Forest just below Crater Mountain.  Good fishing, great for small boats. The water is cold & so is the night air. Plenty of firewood nearby.

Campsite, facilities: 17 sites, well water, vault toilets, fire grills, picnic tables, pets permitted on leashes
Elevation: 6,800 feet
Reservation, fee: No reservations, $10 per night

From Redding:

East on Hwy 44 towards Susanville. Left on Forest Service Road 32N08 (signed Crater Lake just past the Bogard Work Center & adjacent rest stop). App. 100 miles total.
