Climb to the top of a volcano with spectacular views of the Sacramento Valley, hundreds of miles of forests & lakes, and beautiful snow-capped mountains. Mt. Lassen is a 10,500 foot high volcanic flume with hardened lava flows, craters, & outcrops.  The hard, flat trail starts at 8,500 feet & zigzags along a 15% grade for 2.5 miles to the top, taking about 2 hours. Water, sunscreen & appropriate clothing are essential.  Beware of altitude sickness.

From Redding:

East on Hwy 44 , 46 miles to Park entrance at Hwy 89.  Southeast to trailhead parking lot (follow signs).

From Trailhead:

Follow trail 2.5 miles to summit.
