Gideon Carl Turner

Gideon Carl Turner III studied glassblowing and sculpture at San Francisco State University. He was fortunate to study under Stephen de Staebler, where he honed his sculptural skills. Michael Cohen was his primary glassblowing professor.

After graduating in 1980 with a BA in Creative Arts, he spent a year as a lecturer in glassblowing before moving to Northern California where he built a glassblowing studio and a foundry for casting molten metals (bronze, aluminum, etc.).

He is a veteran of the both the Army, where he was in combat during the Vietnam War, and the Navy, as a computer specialist.  After his service in the Armed Forces and his academic pursuits, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 13 years as a Recreation Technician and was the Manager of the Information Center at Shasta Lake.

Now retired, he lives in Shasta County with his lovely wife, Phyllis and has four children, 11 grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.
